...The Dewalt got scrapped - replaced by another Makita.
----------
Makita 2012 sure is a nice little machine, Amazon has them on sale every once in a while for silly cheap.

I know nothing about turning scrap wood into furniture - but we tried out one a Dewalt to supplement a Makita as a jobsite planer. We sometimes set up a shop on-site for larger jobs - and a planer comes in handy for fitting work to match old work where shimming out is not the way to go. Before these luggable planers appeared on the scene we laway had to go back to the shop - where we have a 10hp General 24 inch machine. The Makita was serving us well - but had a need to be positionned very close to our on-site dust collection as it often clogged with shavings if it was further down the line. We also wanted a second planer as our workload was expanding. The Dewalt was not the answer. We found it to work fine for a while - then we started chewing up wood - beacuse the blades were so brittle that they chipped. The Dewalt got scrapped - replaced by another Makita.
