Got a stuck screw or a screw with some wacky security head? Don’t reach for the extractor kit; wrap these $25 screw pliers around the head, and simply twist the screw out. Made by one of Japan’s leading hand tool manufacturers — Engineer Inc., formerly Futaba Tool Mfg. — these pliers remove tamper-resistant, rusty, stripped-head, or otherwise damaged screws.
Engineer makes their 6″ long screw pliers from industrial quality steel, hardens them to HRC56±2, and rubber-coats the handles. The rounded nose design and specially shaped jaws allow the screw pliers to grab nearly flush screw heads firmly enough to twist them when a normal screwdriver fails.

I’ve never heard these called screw pliers before, I’ve had some for years and they told me they are called gas pliers.

Discontinued at that link but it shows the tool. Easily some of the handiest pliers ever no matter what the name.
I got all excited – I thought that they were made by Channellock. I am sure that they are fine quality… but I like to support Channellock whenever possible.

Gas pliers are the larger cousins of these. We have many pairs of Utica #1300-10 – that look like these but are 10 inches long and a lot beefier. Ther were good at turning brass gas cocks.
We also have some curved-jaw vise-grip type pliers bearing the Xtricator Name – and part number 7GR. These are essentially 7 inch long curved-jaw vise grips that have a round-bottomed groove cut in the center of each jaw.
The groove is used to grip the screw head or broken off shaft. These do not seem to be made any more – but I find them very effective.
