Dealmonger: Gardner Bender Circuit Alert On Clearance For $12
By Eric Dykstra
Lowe’s has placed the Gardner Bender Circuit Alert wire stripper on clearance. This little gem of a wire stripper packs an AC current detector in the handle. Its clearance price of $12 brings it down to the price range of more frugal Toolmongers such as myself.
Check out your local Lowe’s to see if you can snatch one up before they’re all gone.

I am not a big fan of these Gardner combo tools, I bought the screwdriver version its not very accurate in detecting voltage I have the scar to prove it. I sure the snips and stripper work great, I know their screwdriver is great just as a screwdriver. Be Warned.

I tried every store in my area and within 200 miles (online) and none of them “carry this item”. So I guess I’m out.

This brings me back, my first post was about these strippers. If you’re looking to get a pair, there are some really helpful (and humorous) comments

Patrick,
I searched the Lowe’s site and got the same result. Yet they were on the rack two hours before. I should have put that in the post.
Check out your local store.

I tried the Lowes by my house. They were 23.95 on clearance sale from 27.95. Not much of a deal. I did not buy them of course. For those who can’t find them: The electricians tools are the only tools in Lowes not in the tool area. You will need to look in the electrical supplies area.

A month ago I saw a few pairs in my Lowes with the “clearance” label on the rack. No surprise as to why they are still there. The last time I was in the store they were still there. Can’t believe that no one saw them- just that no one wanted them!
Some of Lowes other clearance items are a really good deal but my guess is it depends on the dept. manager as to how low the price gets cut.

Last time tm wrote about these tools, I posted a warning that I found them to be completely unreliable for detecting voltage. Keep that in mind when you decide at what price the tool has value for you.
