Don't really have to take the time to sharpen it, just advance the lead a bit and go. www.striker1.com/index.html As for sharpeners, the Kobalt from Lowes seems to be the only one that works well. Most carpenters usually just take a few swipes at them with a utility knife. I have become quite fond of Husky/Striker mechanical carpenters pencil.
