High End Screwdriver By Elemen’tary
By Dan Kitchen
The London based firm Elemen’tary Design has created a simple and elegant screwdriver — it combines the flexibility of interchangeable hex bits with the old school charm of an heirloom-quality tool.
The cabinetmaker who created the beechwood-handled screwdriver wanted a modern tool that would be a pleasure to use. Over years of use, the linseed finish and brass ferrules will develop a patina unique to each user. The unique cardboard package further accentuates the tools — it beats out big box blister packaging.
You can get your hands on one of these smooth handled screwdrivers through Elemen‘tary‘s eBay shop, but you‘re looking at a price of $65 plus the cost of shipping across the pond.

I will take a plastic handle and a lifetime warrantee over this any day.

Yeah, I agree. High end traditional screwdrivers are all the precision pleasure I need. Snap On or SK or Matco or whatever. Screwdrivers get beat to hell in my garage.

Although I wouldn’t get this for myself unless I won the lottery, I think it would make for a great gift. You hear that friends and family - my birthday’s only a few months away so you have plenty of time to save!

Sorry, when I think of heirloom-quality tools, interchangeable bits aren’t there.

I agree that, generally, interchangeable tips aren’t that great, but I use a Chapman set for gunsmithing and wouldn’t hesitate to will it to my heirs.
