The Engraved Dragon Hammer is Crack

By Sean O'Hara

Sometimes the right gimmick hits you just so, and you never see it coming. For example, I find myself irresistibly drawn to this engraved hammer I found at japanwoodworker.com. It’s just an 11oz. hammer with a white oak handle — but the engraved dragon got me.

As much as I preach against gimmicky tools, I remember now why companies keep trying them – because no matter what the gimmick is, somebody’s gonna bite. In this case that someone is sadly me. An Asian-style dragon on a shiny hammer just works; I’m not sure why, but I’m willing to shell out the $50 to have one. Yes, I’m just that sad.

Dude! There’s even a TIGER engraved on the other side!

Just looking at it makes you want to pick a fight with some ninjas, doesn’t it?

(Also, your link currently goes to a Google product search, not the site you meant.)

You do realize the cute little hammer is used for adjusting your wooden plane, don’t you? You do have a wooden plane don’t you?

    Nice catch Daniel! Fixed.
