At his 5th birthday we bought my son the SC-100 (Snap Circuits Jr.) and he's played with it all year. He did follow all the instructions and wants more. So for Christmas we're buying him the SC-750R. Tha should keep him entertained for a year or so. :-)

PS. Great product, fantastic support (we had a broken part and it was replaced under warranty in under a week no questions asked.

My daughter also enjoyed the one I bought for "her" last Christmas. And she didn't want to mess with the instructions either. I think that is more of a "tinkerer gene" thing than a Y chromosome thing.

Great toy, actually. Had two sets over the summer months at work (I'm a goofing off elementary school teacher), and the kids enjoyed it. Funny though. The boys might only be eight, but they still don't like to read the instruction manual. We teach 'em how to be men very young I guess.

Cool, now that they've dumbed down chemistry sets beyond belief. Maybe there is still some hope for the future scientist/engineer.
