I contacted Milwaukee. The 28V 4 tool combo kit rebate runs from 1/1/2008 to 3/31/08. The 18V 4 tool combo kit rebate has expired & will no longer be honored.

Ryobi and Milwaukee are not the same tools. Just because the same company owns them does not mean that they share any commonality. Ryobi tools are built cheap, and with poor quality control, in order to reduce cost and appeal to home owners that don't use their tools regularly. TTI bought Milwaukee in order to give them a brand name to sell higher quality tools to appeal to professionals that use their tools on a daily basis. Milwaukee uses heavier duty components and does more quality control to insure that they work properly, and that higher quality costs more.

These are basically over-priced glorified ryobi tools. Don't believe me, go to http://www.ttigroup.com/general/home.php and click "our brands". This is the reason I buy ryobi tools. Amazing quality for the money.

I am really torn as to whether I should get one of these. I am down to one battery on my Sears 13.2V cordless, so it is time to get something new. The impact driver would be a great addition too.

Can someone help me compare this set to the Makita LXT401 set (same combo of tools). I know that the the Makita hammer drill-driver is 4.9 lbs versus 6.2 for the Milwaukee. What about those little LEDs built into the Makita tools? I am not sure if Makita has the battery life monitor in the battery. That seem like a really good feature. I heard something about a free impact driver from Makita, but I cannot find it on their web site. The Amazon price for the LXT401 is the same ($399) as for the Milwaukee. Should I wait longer for the Milwaukee V28 price to come down?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
