Even BIOS ROMs haven't been socketed DIPs for a few years now! Though a PLCC removal tool would be awful nice, if they'd include it.

A good PC repair toolkit would have a power supply tester, Molex pin removal tools, a micro-prybar (bent straightblade screwdriver) for heatsink clips, a thread gauge with the common PC screw threads, an infrared thermometer, a static strap, and a set of stubby bipolar LEDs on pin-header connectors. But you won't even find a single retailer who carries all that stuff, much less offers it in a single kit.

Kyle- Actually someone who is into hard core electronics the chip extractor is still a very useful tool! Although I agree in a kit labeled as a PC rebuild kit, it does seem a little silly!

Fish- I am frequent buyer from a newegg and there prices are always rollercoasting. When this posted it may have been a day when this was on sale.

you just recently posted this and i build computers as one of my hobbies. even though i have pretty everything i need i def cant beat 10 bucks. so i go on all three pages you posted and they all have it listed for 29.99. newegg has a 15.00 buck mail in rebate though but thats still not 10.00. just wondering if i needed a code or something. thanks.

Yeah, these are handy. The funny part is that you really only need a phillips screwdriver for building and maintaining a PC.... I guess a needle nose helps for digging out dropped screws. I love how they always package chip extractors in these things, just in case your circa 1980 PC goes on the fritz.
