MAC’s Universal Adapters With Locking Collars
By Chuck Cage
Even shade-tree mechanics own a set of 1/2″ to 3/8″ drive (and visa-versa) adapters, and hard-core tool guys even own a set of universals. But as anyone who’s used a jointed adapter knows, it’s tough to keep the adapter attached when you’re working it tight spaces — you know, like you always are with universals. MAC recently released a set with a locking collar that keeps it attached.
It still retains all the swivel action you’ve come to expect from this type of adapter, and it features the same high-polish chrome finish you’ve come to expect from MAC.
For pricing you’ll need to contact your friendly local distributor — or chase down one of the trucks. Our guess is that they’re not cheap.

Now how about a locking extension to put it on.

Aside to Putnam. Craftsman offers locking extensions. Packs of three in different lengths.
These uni’s must be very new. Can’t find them on Mac’s website. If anybody’s got the part number, please post it.

Donn: Looks like the 1/2 to 3/8 is VX3UL and the other one is XV3UL.

Thanks, I don’t keep up with craftsman, living in the sticks with no real Sears nearby.
P.S. we need a Toolmonger Forum!
