It’s Just Cool: A Carved Bone Chisel

By Sean O'Hara

When I saw this carved bone chisel on finetools.com, I couldn’t believe that someone would actually take a swing at this with a hammer.  It could’ve been used more like a scraper.  That might explain why it’s still with us instead of ending up as just so much bone powder on the shop floor.  The craftsmanship on the handle is unbelievable.

It looks more like a gouge to me. Gouges are used without a mallet.
