From The Flickr Pool: Joel Wires’ Router Unboxing

By Chuck Cage

Who says unboxings are just for Nintendo-loving geeks and Apple fanboys?  Long time TM reader Joel Wires just got his first brand-spankin’-new router and posted a great set of unboxing pics to the Toolmonger photo pool.

Damn!  We love the smell of new tool.  Sure, it’s just outgassing from the thermoplastic rubber and the slot-car smell of electricity from a not-yet-worn-in motor, but it still warms our hearts.

Congrats on your acquisition, Joel.

I submitted one of these using the submit a tool forum a month or two ago. You should review it I think… it’s an interesting newcomer to routerdom.

So far I love it. I am a bit unsure about the plunge base though. I think I just need to use it a bit more before I pass judgment. For now I will say this. The motor seems to have plenty of power and the dust ports are phenomenal. But then again, I am trading up from a 10+ year old Black & Decker that was a 3/4 horse fixed base whose special feature was an on/off switch. :)
