I have a B&D workmate and it is okay for certain things but limited, even with it's wide legs. I'm trying to imagine using a handsaw on this while it wobbles because it looks too tall and narrow to be very stable. I have not used one of these but there is such a thing as trying to be too many things and in the end not doing anything well. I think this may be a good example.

These are much bigger than the old style B&D Workmates, and similarly sized to B&D's mid-range model.

This is meant for those with very small workshops, apartment dwellers, and those who need to do work outdoors or away from their shop every now and then.

I live in an apartment so a folding clamping table is one of two options. The other option is using my computer desk as a work table, but that's a bad idea if I need to use power tools. I have vises and clamps, but no place to set them up permanently. A folding table offers decent clampage for light to medium duty work.

These are worth it if you have space/storage issues or portability is important to you. It's a portable work center that folds flat for storage and it doesn't claim to be anything more. Would I use this as a substitute for even an entry-level work table if I had the room for one? No.

Is it worth the money? I think so. My father's 10-25 year old Workmate is built sturdily (made in Canada), and a good folding stand. But they don't make them like they used to. The lower end ones feel cheap and wobbly, and amongst similarly priced B&D workstands, the Stanley MPC is a better buy. Amongst folding work stands, this is the cream of the crop and $70 is the best price I've ever seen on it.

This might be enough to put a small chop saw on, but I can't see doing any serious layout or work on this table. I think I'd be tempted to use it as a ladder.

Are these worth it? It always seemed like they were too small for any real projects and a decent table would work better.
