This article is just enough information to butcher a carpet job. Several technical things are missing

My brother is a professional installer and although I'm not, I have helped him enough that I could do it on my own. I'd say this article about covers everything I know minus a detail or two. It should certainly be enough to get the job done.

I'm ripping out carpet, not installing it, but the Extreme How-To site appears to be a goldmine of information. Thanks for the reference - I've already bookmarked not just the site itself but three specific articles that will be useful to me in the next few months. I like how they break things down without dumbing them down; give enough detail so that a total newbie isn't confused by steps/skills that are presumed instead of specified (as some how-to's do), while not insulting the intelligence of those with a good basic skillset.
