I just got the 400 xpr set that has this at around $99 at my home depot. The side view of the attachment is an "L" with a rounded bump at the top of the "L." The lip and bump make it impossible to plane down the middle of anything or anything wider than 2 3/16" .

While the tool is pretty good for planing door edges it still will never fully replace my dewalt planer.

Some people say that the old style attachments (router table or press) are not comaptible with it, but I can neither confirm or deny that.

Anyways, I like my XPR over my older 300 series dremel. Why? The speed control is independent of the on/off switch. Other than that, it's neither easier nor harder to control.

Could someone with an XPR comment on the usefulness of this tool? I'm going to buy a Dremel either tonight or tomorrow and noticed one of the two XPR kits available includes this attachment. Thanks!

I believe that this only works with the XPR line of Dremel tools--that is how the item is listed on Dremel. I bought one at one point and decided to return it without opening because it did not seem to be compatible with my traditional Dremel.
