The side view of the attachment is an "L" with a rounded bump at the top of the "L." The lip and bump make it impossible to plane down the middle of anything or anything wider than 2 3/16" . Anyways, I like my XPR over my older 300 series dremel. Why? The speed control is independent of the on/off switch. Other than that, it's neither easier nor harder to control. I bought one at one point and decided to return it without opening because it did not seem to be compatible with my traditional Dremel.
