There are some cheap-o heads, the Sears ones (not branded Craftsman) work just fine--but some day I hope to upgrade to the really nice Veritas ones. I don't draw enough circles to justify them--most of my circles are cut, never drawn, with a trammel fixture that I made for my router. The Veritas compass heads are really elegant.
