after getting the quote, there’s a bunch of websites to verify the quote.

autozone/alldatadiy charges for their service, but sites like yahoo answers or ecarservices give those estimates free of charge - ecarservices gives an estimate of both labor and part - although not for all cars and all parts, they got many numbers that can be useful.
