Sometimes solutions to problems can be right before your eyes but you don't see them until someone points it out. I was struggling with some gluing and clamping yesterday but never once did I think of using my cargo ratchets. This site and the comments are saving me time and effort. Heck, even corner pieces would be easy to make out of wood.

I was gluing some splayed chair legs back in place one day and found myself need a band clamp. Since I don't own one, I just used a ratcheting tie-down. Worked like a charm.

You don't get the corner blocks, which are great for gluing up picture frames and the like, but for me, a cargo strap/tie-down did the trick perfectly.

Oh, and just putting some plastic wrap or wax paper--or even better: plastic-wrapped pieces of cork or cork covered with clear packing tape--on the inside faces of your clamps/clamp blocks/cauls should erase any glue up woes.

Mea Culpa. That's what happens when one edits at 3:30 a.m. Fixed the cut/paste error.

Yes, band clamps are great, but...

"Most types of clamps is they suck for gluing up furniture."

Really? Is this the best grammar you could come up with for your intro?
