Reader Find: Campbell Hausfeld’s $160 “Factory Reconditioned” 230V Stick Welder
By Chuck Cage
Sizod writes: “This stick welder from Campbell Hausfeld welds up to 3/8″ mild steel and uses 1/16″, 5/64″, 3/32″, and 1/8″ rod sizes. I bought a gasless wire-feed welder factory reconditioned form these guys a couple of years ago and it works great. I’m tempted to buy this one, too, at such a great price.”
It requires 50A input power, outputting 225A AC. The downside: a 20% duty cycle at 180A — so you can probably forget that 225A output.
Then again, it’s $160 — with a welding shield included.

Pretty cool. I would love a MIG option like this.

Save your money and get an AC/DC welder. Much more versatile.

Just ordered one of these.
if you want to get one even cheaper CH seems to have a closeout ebay store called NewWorldMerchants, since the truck freight origin says that its from CH directly. i got it for 159 with free truck freight. which i think to be a steal
