Reader Find: The Tool Band-It
By Chuck Cage
Mel sent us this tool band for your arm or waist designed to hold tools or small parts magnetically. I have to admit that I’ve never been a big fan of this type of application, but it could be really handy for holding nails or such.
Come to think of it, it’s probably significantly safer than holding them in your mouth, which is what I always end up doing.
Anyway, this “As Seen on TV!” item retails for $20 directly from the manufacturer website. If you’re nervous about the hyped site, we found it for the same price via Amazon and slightly more via other retailers who list with Froogle.

I have gloves that have a magnet built into the back of the hand. Never use them. Can’t see myself using this either. But for someone who installs a lot of fasteners….

Wow, this is pretty silly.
They can probably sell more if they claim it will also reduce your blood pressure with all the magnetic goodness.

FYI - It’s via Target @ amazon. If you’ve got an AAA membership, you can get a 10% discount if you shop through their portal @ target.com.
This actually looks like an alright product. However, I don’t think I’ve ever thought “hey, wouldn’t it be great if I could stick this tool/fastener to my arm”.

I saw this on the intenational hardware show. I liked the idea and my wife bought me one for xmas. I thought it would be great for when I’m upside down, on my back under the cars.
Too bad the arm band is so small that I can’t get it around my arm. If your a “manly man” there us no way you’ll get it on your arm either.

My mom got me one for Christmas. I haven’t had the chance to use it yet, but I rate it very high on the ‘cool gadget’ scale. I’m another one who thought this would be good when working under/over a car. I’ll probably get to try it out with regular fastners inside the house first when I install window blinds on the new house later this summer. For now, it sits in a drawer.

Pretty polarizing tool–people seem to love it or hate it. While I think it looks pretty cool, I cannot imagine ever using it, although a shop apron with a magnetic portion integrated would be much more appealing.

Abe,
I am sorry your Tool Band-it did not fit. I have larger strap sizes in stock and can send you one at no charge. Just let me know where to send it.
