The only bad news: There’s a $50 mail-in rebate included in the deal. So if you’re ok with waiting for the cash back, I’d agree it’s a good way to get started.

Rhode Island has a law prohibiting mail in rebate prices being reflected as the final price. So my flyer (unfortunately) says this is $149 with an available $50 rebate. Makes sense as a more fair way of advertising, and it works in our favor when national chains fail to take us into account–we get the rebate at checkout if they advertise that way–then the store is responsible for following up with the mail-in portion. But in this case they caught it so my local flyer is different.
Anyway, knowing what your state’s laws are in this area is worthwhile.

What kind of batteries are those? My previous Makita set had a similar styled black batteries that were NiMH. I was under the impression that the red ones are NICD

Mike, I think that the red ones are NICD, but you can use NiMH batteries with the tool. If I needed a drill, I’d pick this up and when the batteries quit taking a charge, buys some NiMH or Litheum-Ion.

Yeah, good luck getting the money for a mail in rebate back…
