I have corner clamps, and use them sometimes, but lots of times when I am assembling a box on my bench I just use some pieces of cut off angle iron to hold the sides up, square, etc. Now I'm not talking about bedframe angle iron here, but 3 to 5 inch leg 3/8" thick angle iron pieces.

I'm just throwing out what I do, and works for me in this situation. I have made a fair number of wooden boxes too. A couple of hundred maybe?

10.95 a pair for pretty much the same thing, unless I'm missing something. These are plastic rather than metal, but if you're just holding things in place to glue, that shouldn't matter too much.

Patrick,

The box clamps clamp in three dimensions, where the ones you posted, while useful, only clamp in two dimensions. So you can do a corner piece. But with the box clamps, you can clamp the top corner while strapping the bottom face across a true and square joint. At least that is the difference that I see.

So what's the difference between this and a $3 corner clamp from Harbor Freight? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=1852

That's one of the neatest and most useful looking tools I've seen for woodworking, especially amateurs like myself who don't have every tool under the sun. I also tend to work on fairly simple projects, so I could see myself getting tons of mileage out of these. Thanks!
