Quality control problems at Chrysler? Imagine that! Any wonder why the Germans want out? 2 questions. 1) I drive a GMC pickup. Does that make me a cowboy or a soccer dad? And, 2) Have the sparkplugs shot out of anybody's Ford Triton 5.4 V8 recently?

In my experience, contractors buy Fords, cowboys buy Chevys, folks without a good Ford or Chevy dealer buy Dodges, and Suburbanite Soccer Dads buy the other "trucks". We've used exclusively Ford trucks over the years and I'd no sooner use anything else for WORK than I would throw out all my tools and try to reassemble them from Harbor Freight.

Chris: I think the concept is that un- or under-greased bearings would start by making noise, but'll eventually fail completely causing more grevious damage.

Roscoe: I have to admit that the I've only owned two trucks -- a '67 Dodge and a '97 F150. I liked 'em both. Sean and I have spent most of the last week with our heads in, under, and through the guts of an '06 GMC Sierra Denali, and it seems pretty reasonably made. I know everyone has pretty strong opinions on trucks, but they all seem to have some serious ups and downs as far as I can see.

Besides the nasty heater core swap, I'm pretty happy with the F150.

Road noise results in loss of control and crash? I have been in some distracting cars, but that just doesn't seem to add up. If it is a real safety issue wherein the bearings are faulty and the wheel could fail, they should make no bones about that. Instead they seem to be focusing on the annoyance of road noise. On a truck no less. Hmmmm.
