Update: Bosch PS40 “Impactor” Specs
By Chuck Cage
The folks at Bosch dropped us a line today to fill in some of the gaps in our knowledge regarding the new “Impactor.” Specifically, they’re claiming 800 in-lbs of torque — a hell of a lot of power for such a small tool.
It’s also going to carry an MSRP of $199, which means it’ll likely sell in the same $150 range as their current 10.8V offerings.
The good news is that we’re indeed confirmed to test one of these for you as soon as they’re available. The bad news: it might be a bit. This was a really early announcement, so we’re probably a few months away from seeing the real deal.
In the meantime, enjoy this “action shot” Bosch sent us. How’s ’bout a photo of it next to a PS20?

That is really hot, both specs and looks. I’ll wait on the review though, the price is steep enough that I’ll wait for some real hands on info. Not that I’d doubt the Bosch name, but it is a lot of money.

I almost had a fit and pulled out my wallet. I read the “800 in-lbs” as “800 ft-lbs” until my common sense radar beeped..
Wow.. it’s still pretty good.. But for a second I was imagining getting this instead of a real impact wrench and compressor or one of the electric impact wrenches.
lol..
Nice find.

Canadian Tire has been selling a 10.8V Li-ion impact driver under the Mastercraft Maximum name since December. The specs are similar: No load speed: 0-2,200 rpm/0-2,700 bpm, 850 in/lb of torque. It sells for $230 but it’s on sale for $150 right now.
I have their 14.4V Ni-Cad 3KO impact gun (0-2,300 rpm, 0-3,000 bpm, 1,050 in-lbs. of torque) and it has served me well.
I also picked up the 10.8V Li-ion 3/8″ drill in December and it’s been pretty handy so far. If I didn’t already have an impact gun, I’d get the Li-ion impact driver so I could share the batteries.
