It’s Just Cool: A V8-Powered Chainsaw
By Chuck CageThe announcer in this video introduces first a competition-quality chainsaw, then shows a V-twin-powered chainsaw, then a V6 chainsaw, and finally a V8 chainsaw. You can see the four (!) guys holding it having a hard time handling the torque when they rev it. Soon thereafter you get to see them zip through a big-ass log in about a second flat.
Yep, this is totally and completely over the top. There’s absolutely zero practical use for this kind of thing. But you know, sometimes you just gotta say…

The power in that cut on the video was just incredible! I’ve never seen any kind of chainsaw even on a robotic cutter-thingy that was even that powerful! That’s just cool…!

I would settle for the V-Twin version. I figure that me and one other person could handle that one. Wonder if these require a special chain. The V8 one off motorcycles (small block Chevy) that have been featured at local shows go through drive chains like crazy, seems like it would be worse for a chain saw chain, where it is both torqued by the engine as well as acting as a cutting member.

Reminds me of the Dolmette motorcycle, powered by 24 Dolmar Chainsaw engines. This cross-breeding is out of control: http://www.dolmar.com/755.php
