I have the jigsaw, recip and circ saw. Good power and adequate runtime for the projects I have completed so far. Being able to use my old NiCad batteries is also a bonus.

my collection started with the plumbing line, then later the vacuum, and now some sanders. I havent made an upgrade from the Ryobi one line when it comes to the cordless stuff, but right now I need a new corded circular saw, and I've narrowed it down to a Ridgid and a dewalt, pretty much waiting on another sale at this point, before I pull the trigger, I am definitely leaning towards the Ridgid, maybe even pick up the radio and belt some tunes out for the deck project.

My first experience with Ridgid started in 2003 after going through (2) two 12v Dewalt drills (gave both away). I had heard of Ridgid from my Dad, he was an electrician for 40+ years before retiring. He had always been pleased with Ridgid products in his years of being in the electrical field. So, in 2003 I came across an ad at the local Home Depot with an 18v Ridgid drill with free lifetime replacement batterys and I have not looked back since. I now have added a hammerdrill, saw and flashlight and all have surpassed my expectations. I, like a lot of people, would like to see a jobsite radio as I do spend everyweekend on projects at my home. I take very good care of all my tools and I fell Ridgid has brought a product to the market that is very competetive and look forward to future products! Keep up the R&D department and listen to the people that use the products!

I have a Bosch set that I thought was great. That was untill the batteries started to give out. New batteries cost $89.95 each. Who are we kidding. Why would I spend that much on batteries for a tool set that is nearly beat. Then I found the RIDGID set. WOW! The lifetime deal on batteries, parts, service, this was a no brainer. Beside, the quality of the Ridgid Tools is fantastic. Some of the minor details included with the RIDGID make this stuff ideal for my line of work. For example, as an Electrician, I am in peoples homes all the time. The rubber trim on the batteries protects floors and coounteer tops from dings and scratches.

Since my last post...I've expanded my Ridgid collection by 10 fold including one of the Fuego's that I obviously didn't win! haha~ Sure could use a new drill to test out though!

I must say...the only think I do during the day now is countdown till the Ridgid Radio 8408 release and dream of a Ridgid sticker on the hood of a racecar so I can have somebody to root for!

If Ridgid makes it and I need it, I buy it. Since discovering how this company has engineered its tool toward quaility, reliability and user convineance it is a no brainer. I will not buy another brand if Ridgid makes it.

I'm in the market for new cordless tools. Most of the guys I work with use Dewalt, some use Makita. I like Ridgid for its plumbing tools- my pipe cutter and reamer are unparalled in quality and price. My problem with cordless tools is that they are all made in Mexico or China- which means they are designed to break. Every website I've been on has many mixed messages about every cordless tool I'm interested. Even the Ingersoll-Rand cordless tools are most likely made in China . And batteries- can anyone get it right. Many of these companies' problems have nothing to do with the drill- they can't get the power problems corrected. This why I'll lean towards Dewalt- they do have reliability in this area. What about Ridgid?

I work with Ridgid, DeWalt, Milwalkee, Makita, Bosch, and even some Ryobi tools. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages but Ridgid is the best bang for the buck. My only concern is they have definitely blown into the market with everything from cordless tools to shovels and post hole diggers. Right now they have a fabulous product that is priced correctly to ensure they deliver the quality of tool that a commercial worker needs while staying away from the "automatic 40% DeWalt sticker price mark-up" Bottom line: Keep the tools commercial grade for a fair price and you'll control the market in the next 5 years or less. Keep your eye on "ease of use" as you have with the next generation of saws/miter table/cordless. Don't forget to talk to the workers in the field that work with your competition every day. Find out your flaws and correct them. Small things matter (like the tightening handle on the UV stands for the miters. I'm sure that you know what I'm talking about) Grow too fast and turn to the corprate mentality to do "more with less" while decreasing quality and you'll turn into Firestorm tools. Until then, you keep putting out quality products at a fair price, and I'll keep buying them.

I love my Ridgid kit, but I'm desperate for a Ridgid radio...
I'm sick of lugging a DeWalt radio around despite no longer use their tools.
I've read a few rumours... but what I'd really like is for Santa to leave it under the tree this Christmas.

My 24 volt set is awesome NEED the MAX SELECT , the 24 volt batteries hold a charge forever and no power lost in extreme cold when you are laying in mud and slush underneath a house you really want to get the job done quick and these tools give more than needed even on hard jobs.
THE MAX SELECT would be a great additon to my tool box, everyone that tried my 24 volt tried to snake them, so I could use the 24 volt for job loaners,

So interesting to hear the "complaints" about a powered caulk gun. And searching for that very thing is what got me here! I'm looking at empyting three cases of 29 oz tubes in one morning. Using self-leveling caulk for concrete joints. You think I want to do that by hand?! Ever! Even worse is putting beads of sub floor adhesive down... in the winter. Ug. Doesn't matter if you have Popeye arms - that's gonna hurt after the 10th room. One nice feature of the Ridgid gun is that it has a stud follower. VERY handy. Oh... and it takes the big AND small tubes. The other brands don't do that. YOu have to buy a $300 gun for each size of tube?! I don't think so!

I purchased the Ridgid R932 combo at Home Depot just before Christmas and my initial impression was that the drill and reciprocating saw were very good. The circular saw didn't feel as beefy as the aforementioned but I have never actually used it. One of my batteries went out completely after a few weeks so I called my nearest Ridgid service center that was listed on Ridgid's website. They stated that they no longer were a Ridgid warranty center. I called the next nearest one and they said they would order a battery for me. Flash forward three weeks I give them a call and they not only had not ordered the battery, they now claim they are no longer a Ridgid warranty center. Meanwhile I started having problems with the other battery when using the drill. The battery would shut down almost every time I tried to use it even if it had a full charge. Install it in the charger and it would apparently reset and work Ok afterwards. Having to climb down from a ladder or out from under a house to reset a battery isn't exactly convienient when you're trying to get a job done. Apparently there is a problem with the built-in circuit protection. I call my next nearest service center (150 miles away) and find out that they were having problems with the 24 volt batteries and others were experiencing similar problems. So much so that they were going through quite a few batteries each week. The person I talked to suggested that if I had made the purchase less than 90 days ago to take it back for a refund. With the drill's performance problems and also having to drive 150 miles to swap out a defective battery I decided to return the kit to Hiome Depot. I was also told by the last service center that Ridgid would give you 3 or so batteries as replacements and then you would get a letter from them canceling your lifetime service agreement. I don't think he would have told me this if he didn't know of owners this had happened to. I visited the Ridgid forums at their website and there were comments about the battery going dead just like mine. Not sure I would be investing my hard earned money in Ridgid's 24 volt stuff just yet. Hopefully they will get it all straightened out as when it works properly the tools are pretty good.

Install it in the charger and it would apparently reset and work Ok afterwards. Having to climb down from a ladder or out from under a house to reset a battery isn’t exactly convienient when you’re trying to get a job done. With the drill’s performance problems and also having to drive 150 miles to swap out a defective battery I decided to return the kit to Hiome Depot. I was also told by the last service center that Ridgid would give you 3 or so batteries as replacements and then you would get a letter from them canceling your lifetime service agreement. I don’t think he would have told me this if he didn’t know of owners this had happened to. I visited the Ridgid forums at their website and there were comments about the battery going dead just like mine. Not sure I would be investing my hard earned money in Ridgid’s 24 volt stuff just yet. Hopefully they will get it all straightened out as when it works properly the tools are pretty good.

I recently bought some Ridgid tools and so far I really like them. Lots of power. I was thinking that the lithium batteries looked a lot like the Milwaukee batteries, then I found out that same company owns Ryobi, Ridgid, and Milwaukee. That might explain it. I am going to pick-up the Maxselect vacuum tomorrow. So far my only complaint is the weight and that the batteries drain quickly if left in a tool.

i bought the hd combo kit. hammerdrill, saw, circular, impact, light, dual charger, and the three batteries.this kit kicks ass.i love my impact, and probably use it more than the hammer.i love having that third battery in a pinch and i've been showing it off to everyone at the jobsite ever since.it has some decent power and the only complaint is how the sawzall kills the battery, but which saw dosen't. the winner of that pack will understand.

My first purchase of the Ridgid 24 Volt combo set was just after Christmas of last year (2006). To date I haven't had any problems with any of the tools, and my experiences have only been positive. On a few other forums I've read where users have had battery problems with the 24V Lithium-Ion batteries, but I've had no problems at all. One thing I did was to buy a separate 24V Drill-driver set so as to get 2 extra batteries (giving me 4 total).

If I had only 1 battery, or if the recharge time was longer, its possible I may have had a battery problem. But such as it is, I'm extremely happy with my new Ridgid set.

My Porter-Cable 19.2V cordless tools are now retired; which is quite a relief because I had a lot of problems with their batteries and they're expensive.

Today I saw the new Ridgid MaxSelect Wet/Dry Vac at my local Home Depot. I'll have to have one of those. It's light, compact and very portable. Since the store didn't have any charged 24V batteries I can't say how the performance is. But with both Home Depot and Ridgid having a generous return policy, and with the excellent quality of the other Ridgid 24 Vold cordless tools I have, I'm not in the least concerned.

Good job, Ridgid!

Well, Ridgid has had to work hard to overcome the stigma of being from "the Big Orange Box", but I think they are earning their place with quality. Solid and generally well thought out. Sometimes a bit heavy, but getting better (like the Fuego).

Guys, I just subscribed to your podcasts. Frankly, I hate them. I'm now finding myself researching the tools you're talking about and purchasing them. When my wife finds out, I'm going to get kicked out of the house. Luckily, I am now the proud owner of a Fubar. I'm going to keep it in my truck so I can easily break back in. My brother is NYPD and works Harlem, he just may have been the guy that told Joe to put down the axe.. I frequent the Depot a lot. I've always passed up the RIGID tool line. Now that I'm aware of their warranty, I'm quite positive they will be added to my collection in the near future. Keep up the pod casts...
