Finds: J-B Stik
By Chuck Cage
You’ve heard of J-B Weld? Who hasn’t. It’s famous. (Infamous?) But have you heard of J-B Stik? It’s a “hand-kneadable, steel-reinforced epoxy putty/adhesive/sealant” designed to help plug holes and make permanent repairs on wet or dry surfaces. And, like most other J-B products, it can be drilled, sanded, filed, tapped, machined, and painted.
According to J-B, it also required no tools or prep time. They say you simply knead it thoroughly with your fingers (mixing and activating the epoxy), then apply it. It sets in 4-6 hours and cures fully in 15-24 hours.
They claim it’ll bond to “virtually any combination of iron, steel, copper, aluminum, brass, bronze, pewter, porcelain, ceramic, marble, glass, PVC, ABS, concrete, fiberglass, wood, fabric, paper” — or just about any other material.
It’s resistant to 300 degrees F as well. Street pricing starts around $4 for 2 ounces.
