Reader Question: A Good Belt/Spindle Sander Choice?
By Chuck Cage
Brad’s submitted tools in the past, and today he asked for your help. He writes: “I’m considering buying the RIDGID EB4424 oscillating edge belt/spindle sander, and was wondering if you guys (or your readers) could offer any insight into this tool’s performance/capabilities. Thanks!”
I have to admit that we haven’t had any personal experience with this particular model yet. (I had a similar sander once in my old shop, but it was older than me.)
Price wise it looks pretty competitive at around $250. What say you, fellow Toolmongers? Do you own one?

Fine Woodworking Magazine just gave the Ridgid top marks - if I recall it was best value and best overall. Grab it.

Nice. Thanks. Runs $199 at the local Home Depot. Gonna grab it after Christmas.

After a quick Google search, it appears that HD still sells this tool, but does not stock the sanding sleeves. However, there might be other online sources.
