Finds: Dual Blade Tenon Cutters
By Sean O'Hara
Listen up all you Little House on the Prairie freaks: Log furniture is your thing – your secret passion. You don’t have to admit it. We won’t tell anyone. But we’ve got the tool for you: dual blade tenon cutters. They can make your rustic-farm-lovin’ life easier. So kick your feet up and listen for a sec.
These dual precision-ground blades cut twice as fast as normal one bladed systems, and they also claim to retain their sharpness longer, never rust or clog, and generate less heat.
(For those not in the know, tenons joints are used to “slot” together wood pieces without the joint being visible. You can get the general idea from the picture.)
As an added benefit, you can also see and measure tenon length while you’re cutting by looking through the sight window on the side of the bit. The “In-Sight” measurement system has slots and radial grooves set at 1/2″ intervals – so you can eliminate manual re-measuring and re-cutting.
The blades are made of 410 hardened stainless steel, and their self-centering design produces perfectly shaped tenons every time. The body is CNC machined from solid 6061 aircraft aluminum for maximum strength with minimum weight while the 1/2″ shanks are made of 303 stainless steel.
So, when your next “rusti”c furniture project involves some tenon joints git yer’selves one and find out if your prairie life ain’t better.
