The Unimat 6-in-1
While we can in no way vouch for the quality of this tool, we couldn’t help but post it after coming across it at (of all places) Think Geek.
(For you non-techies out there, Think Geek is a website devoted to selling tech goodies such as office gadgets and t-shirts with sayings like “There are only 10 kinds of people in the world: those who know binary and those who don’t” on them.)
According to Think Geek’s product page, the device claims to function as a jig-saw, wood lathe, drill press, sanding machine, metal lathe, or horizontal/vertical mill with a 3/100mm tolerance. It features a 12,000 RPM motor (with 6:1 or 2.3:1 reduction for 2,000 RPM or 5,200 RPM respectively) and comes with a construction plan book and Unimat handbook.
There seems to be a bit of a following out there for older Unimat mini-lathes and mini-mills, so it’d be interesting if this is a new product from them. We looked a bit and couldn’t find this product directly from the Unimat company, so if any of you happen to find it, drop us a line with it.
Think Geek’s selling it for for $499.99 and they have it in stock. (Watch that shipping, though!)
